About

Thank you for your interest in Trudeau Classic Sailing Yachts. Since 2005 we have been the premier designer and builder of classic sailing vessels in the virtual world known as Second Life (and still delivering updates to customers who purchased over 15 years ago – how many Second Life merchants can say that!). Drawing inspiration from the timeless designs of celebrated real life nautical designers such as Nathaniel and L. Francis Herreshoff, John Alden, John Hannah and others, we offer a full line of sailboats for the discriminating SL Yachtsman/women/thing. Full keeled wooden boats with graceful lines and traditional sailplans. Boats whose ancestors were fishing and workboats, the kinds of boats “men who went down to sea” went down to sea in :) From 17 foot daysailers to 85 foot tall ships – Trudeau has built boats for every dreamer on every budget.

Features of the boats:

— Realistic sailing. You won’t find a single static houseboat at Trudeau. Thanks to the ingenious sailing mechanics originally devised by Kanker Greenacre and modified by Jacqueline Trudeau specifically for the Trudeau line of yachts, they *really sail* using the SL wind. Voice or HUD commands trim each sail for optimal performance under sail. Heeling, drifting, in irons… all the sailing fun — and sometime frustration ;) — it’s in there (dramamine not included).

— Richly textured, inside and out, from the finest of virtual nautical materials including white oak framing, cedar hull planking, teak decks, sitka spruce masts and spars, varnished mahogany brightwork and bronze fittings.

— Fully outfitted cozy cabin, entered via multiple opening hatches on select models. Below you will find berths with couples lying cuddle poses and settees with correct sit orientation scripts. But of course you’ll probably want to add your own poseballs for your preferred belowdecks activities ;)

— Customizable. Voice commands to change the hull and sail textures from a selection of traditional nautical color schemes, modifiable script for changing the default camera location and angle. On the non-attaching models, a notecard to add skipper names – you decide who can skipper your Trudeau yacht – not limited to just the owner.

— HUDs that provide button control for common boat handling commands and display of environmental conditions via analog or digital indicators.

— Collaborative sailing. Can be sailed either solo or with the assistance with a crew. The control HUD objects are copy and transfer permissioned, so Shanghai *your* crew by dropping a Trudeau HUD on them ;)

— Artificial wind strength and direction commands for overriding those pesky fluky SL winds. Compatible with SLSF racewind, used in regattas throughout SL.

— Moving wheel, tiller and helmsperson animations on most models. Custom developed animations and poses by Larinda Cordeaux and Jacqueline Trudeau for your crew/passengers.

— Auxiliary motor to power you through those occasions when the wind dies down.

— Since sim crossings can be unpredictable, copy and modify permissions.

Whether your ideal is a lazy afternoon spent in a peaceful cove, racing across a sun-dappled sea, slipping off the deck shoes and relaxing when the sun goes down, entertaining guests on the water or dockside, or visiting exotic ports of call on an extended cruise across the grid, the Trudeau Classic Sailing Yachts are designed for your unique SL boating experience.

Thanks again for checking us out and we’ll see you on the water!

I rezz the T 20 ( Manning Straight ) ….find the wind weak and rapidly changing directions… i try the set wind command to no avail…
so I rezz the Knockabout… same problem….find the wind weak and rapidly changing directions… i try the set wind command to no avail…
I then give up and rez my Larinda, or Friendship or ACA33… strong wind and off I go
so what is wrong with the T20 and the Knockabout?

Hi Bobbi, perhaps you have entered the set wind command incorrectly? The syntax is reversed on the newer Trudeau boats. The wind dir is now first, the speed second.

    Hi Jacqueline

I am having the same trouble as Bobbi with my Leetle Cat and I have been careful to use the correct syntax for set wind command

I think a friend of mine is having the same trouble with his Chat Noir.

The set wind command does not seem to work and I cannot beat the boat to windward at all. Winds are weak and fluky and often on the nose…

Like Bobbi I am having no trouble with my older Trudeaus (Defender and Bluewater), they seem fine.

    Cheers

Nope, I enter it ok..I read the directions…giggles… I switch to my Larinda, the most beautifu sail boat in the world, and off I go… not a problem.
I found, if I trash the folder and rezz a new folder….. rename the boat, and reset all the colours , onec again , then it is fine for a couple of sails then… boom same trouble?
    ?
btw, it is now happening on the leetle cat, leetle cat Noir and the Runabout…same problem. Only get a couple of sails before they have to be trashed and restored.
The Larinda, the Friendship sloop, the ketch, all… when i switch to them or any other boat there is wind that is steady and true.
    Hummmmm

    Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks for the replacement Leetle Cat. It is good to deal with a person who stands behind her (amazing) products.

While I did have the same troubles with the replacement at first, I have discovered that I have been over-sheeting the Leetle Cat upwind, which would explain my problem a bit. The boat does beat to windward normally with the sheet eased a little.

On the wind setting front, things did improve after I accepted race wind at Starboards YC. That might just have been coincidence. However, I do now seem to be able to set wind as normal, even away from a race course.

All seems normal for the moment.

Thank you for all your help,
    Cheers,
    Jaspar

    Jacqueline,

I am trying to let my partner skipper my 12 mtr. I add her sign in name to the settings as described, save it , take the boat back into inventory and re rezz. When she attempts to get in the sjipper position she still gets The owner has not authorized you to skipper this boat. Our suggestion: flattery, bribes, or blackmail :).- ANy ideas what I am doing wrong ? – Thanks John

Hi John, make sure you are entering your partner’s SL username (login name), not their display name. Include “resident” if that is part of the username. If you are still having problems, please contact me inworld. Regards, Jacqueline
